Drugs worth £5.5m recovered during police raid in Glasgow as three people arrested

Drugs with an estimated street value of £5.5 million have been recovered during a police raid in Glasgow.

Officers executing a warrant in Curzon Street in the Maryhill area on Friday uncovered a significant quantity of Class A drugs and a firearm.

The haul included more than 90kgs of cocaine, 23kgs of heroin, 19kg of MDMA and around 5,800 diazepam and ecstasy tablets.

A quantity of cash and ammunition were also recovered.

Around 20kgs of cocaine was found during a search of a vehicle.

Two men, aged 45 and 30, and a woman, aged 31, have been arrested and charged in connection with the seizure.

They are due to appear at Glasgow Sheriff Court on Monday.

Detective Superintendent Steven Elliott said: “This very significant recovery sends a clear message that we will not tolerate illegal drugs in our communities.

“We are determined to protect the public from this harmful criminality by disrupting the cultivation and sale of illegal substances, preventing them being circulated on the streets of Scotland and addressing the concerns of local people.

“This action underlines our commitment to the Serious Organised Crime Taskforce and the country’s Serious Organised Crime Strategy.
