Drugs, knife, hammer and 17 bottles of Buckfast discovered in car by police

Police said two people were charged with respective offences after the driver was deemed unfit to drive and failed a drugs test.

Police searching a car in Glasgow have uncovered drugs, a knife, a hammer, and 17 bottles of Buckfast among other items.

Officers stopped the car on London Road around 2am on Friday before discovering the haul.

Three people were travelling in the car, including the driver, who was deemed unfit to drive after failing a roadside drugs wipe.

Officers shared an image of the items recovered from the car including 13 bottles of vodka, five bottles of Mad Dog 20/20, beer, gin, and wine as well as vapes, cigarettes, and sweets.

Herbal cannabis, cannabis edibles, and cocaine were also recovered alongside a knife and hammer.

Police said two people were charged with respective offenses.

A Police Scotland statement shared on social media read: “Officers had reason to stop a vehicle at 2am on Friday, September 13 2024 on London Road, Glasgow.

“Two persons were within the vehicle with the driver deemed unfit to drive, failing the roadside drugs wipe.

“Multiple items were seized from the vehicle, such as- Herbal Cannabis, Cannabis edibles, cocaine and a large quantity of alcohol.

“A knife and a hammer were also recovered.

“Both parties charged with the respective offences. Report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal.”
