Drug dealer who hid stun gun at his parents’ house jailed

Police found cannabis worth £3000 under Andrew Davidson's bed and a stun gun on a shelf.

A drug dealer snared with a stun gun at his parents’ house has been jailed for 14 months.

Andrew Davidson was also found with £3000 of cannabis under his bed in Bishopbriggs, Glasgow, in January.

The 27-year-old claimed to have been repaying a debt as a result of a previous drug conviction.

The father-of-one kept a torch-shaped stun gun hidden in his bedroom shelf after receiving violent threats.

Davidson pleaded guilty at Glasgow Sheriff Court to supplying cannabis and possession of a stun gun.

The court heard police were granted a warrant to search Davidson’s parents’ house, where he was living.

Prosecutor Mark Allan said: “Drugs and a stun gun were found in Davidson’s bedroom.

“The cannabis was under his bed and has a street value of up to £3000.

“The gun was found on the shelf area of the bedroom and was a small torch shape which was viable and tested.”

Davidson told officers that all the items belonged to him and he was arrested.

Tracey Patterson, defending, told the court the car valet worker was convicted of a drug offence in 2016.

She said: “People told him that he lost these drugs and you will pay for them.

“He wasn’t making enough money to pay them off so he was told to work off his drug debts by selling cannabis.

“He was getting threats of serious assault that he was going to get stabbed and slashed so a friend gave him a stun gun just in case.”

Davidson was sentenced to 14 months for the drugs charge and eight months for the stun gun.

Both sentences will run concurrently.
