A drug courier caught with £1m of cocaine stashed inside a secret compartment of a van has been jailed for six years.

Kurtis Taylor, 30, had been ferrying the consignment from England when police swooped on the M74 motorway near Lesmahagow, Lanarkshire last September 5.

A sniffer dog helped uncover the haul in the black Vauxhall Vivaro.

The High Court in Glasgow heard how a hydraulic compartment was found under the back seat of the vehicle.

A key fob had been adapted to open and shut the hide.

A total of ten blocks – each embossed with the logo of the former Twitter app – were found inside.

They were found to be cocaine with a maximum potential value of £1,002,300.

DNA also helped link Taylor, of Liverpool, to the haul.

Taylor was sentenced at the same court on Tuesday, having earlier admitted to being concerned in the supply of cocaine.

Judge Douglas Brown cut the jail-term due to the guilty plea.
