Firefighters were called to Hayes Garden Land outside Kilmarnock during the early hours of Monday morning.

Drone images showing the aftermath of a devastating blaze that burned down a garden centre and cafe in Ayrshire have been shared with STV News.

Emergency services were called to Hayes Garden Land in Bogend, Kilmarnock during the early hours of Monday morning.

Four appliances were sent by the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service to the scene on Tarbolton Road after 2am.

There were no casualties, but the centre’s owners confirmed the site, including its 130-seat cafe, had burned down.

The garden centre, a long-established family-run business, has roots going back more than 200 years.

A statement on social media read: “We regret to inform you that we will be closed for the foreseeable future – the Garden Centre & Cafe have burned down.”

A Scottish Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson said: “We were alerted at 2.16am on Monday, December 15 to reports of a fire within a garden centre building in Bogend, near Kilmarnock.

“Operations Control mobilised four appliances to the town’s Tarbolton Road, where firefighters worked to extinguish the fire.

“There are no casualties.”

Police Scotland has been contacted for comment.
