A driver who died following a two-vehicle crash in Dumfries and Galloway has been named by police .
Emergency services were alerted to the collision, involving a green Toyota Hilux and a white Scania HGV, on the A7 near Briery Bank at around 11.35am on Tuesday.
Sam Cropper, the driver of the Toyota, was pronounced dead at the scene.
The car’s passenger, a 55-year-old man, was taken to hospital with serious injuries. Medical staff describe his condition as stable.
The driver of the the lorry did not suffer any injuries.
Officers closed the road for more than 12 hours as investigations were carried out.
Sergeant Colin Ramage said: “Our thoughts remain with Sam’s family and friends at this difficult time, as well as the man who suffered serious injuries.
“We continue to carry out extensive enquiries into this crash and I’d appeal to anyone with information or dash-cam footage to come forward.”
