A bus driver has been praised for his “quick reactions” after coming to the aid of two schoolboys stabbed on board a Glasgow service.

The 14-year-old victims suffered serious injuries in the attack, which happened along Gorbals Street at around 2.40pm on Sunday.

The boys were taken by ambulance to the city’s Queen Elizabeth University Hospital for treatment.

Police have since arrested four other teenage boys – aged between 13 and 16 – in connection with the incident.

Duncan Cameron, operations director for First Glasgow, said the firm is doing all it can to assist Police Scotland with the investigation, including providing CCTV.

He added: “First Glasgow condemns any acts of violence towards our staff or passengers and although incidents of this nature are very rare on our services, I would like to praise the driver for his quick reactions to aid the injured passengers.”

Police said enquiries into the incident are ongoing.
