A man has been seriously injured after his car came off the East Kilbride Expressway and crashed into trees.
The incident happened at around 9.40am on Sunday morning near High Blantyre, when a blue Peugeot 308 left the road.
The vehicle collided with a number of trees before coming to a stop on the grass verge.
The 27-year-old male driver of the vehicle was taken to the Queen Elizabeth University hospital in Glasgow with serious injuries.
Police are now trying to establish what happened and appealed for witnesses.
Sergeant Craig McDonald said: “We are trying to establish exactly how the incident occurred and what happened to cause the car to leave the road.
“We are keen to speak to anyone who was driving in the area at the time who witnessed the incident. I would also ask anyone with dash-cam footage that may help with our collision investigation to get in touch.
