Pamela McNameeA driver has died following a one-car crash near East Kilbride during rush hour.
Emergency services were called to the A726 in the Chapelton area at around 8.35am on Monday.
The male driver was pronounced dead at the scene.
The road was closed at Brechame Road and Greenhills Road following the crash.
An investigation to establish the full circumstances is ongoing, and a report is due to be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal.
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Around 8.35am on Monday, August 17, 2026 police were called to a report of a crash involving one car on the A726 in the Chapelton area of East Kilbride.
“Emergency services attended and the male driver was pronounced dead at the scene.
“The A726 is closed at Brechame Road and Greenhills Road and enquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances.
“A report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal.”
