Driver dies and three passengers seriously injured in crash

A 31-year-old man has died in a crash that left three others seriously injured.

Police are appealing for witnesses after a man died and three other people were seriously injured in a car crash.

Officers were alerted to the single-car incident in Glasgow Road in Barrhead at 9.30pm on Saturday.

The 31-year-old driver of the red Honda Civic was pronounced dead at the scene, while three passengers – aged 25, 26 and 31 – were taken to hospital with serious but not life-threatening injuries.

Police Scotland have launched an investigation into the circumstances of the accident.

Sergeant Michael McCusker said: “Our thoughts are with the deceased’s loved ones at this time, along with others who were involved in this incident.

“As we continue our investigation, we’re asking for anyone who was in the Glasgow Road area around the time of the crash to please get in touch, whether you saw it take place or may have seen the car a little earlier.

“We are also interested in seeing potential dash cam footage prior to the incident, which could greatly assist our inquiries.”

Anyone with information is asked to contact Police Scotland on 101.
