A man has been charged and is due to appear in court following a “hit and run” in Paisley town centre.
The incident occurred on Lawn Street just after 9am on Saturday morning.
Emergency services were called to the scene and two people, a 74-year-old man and a 47-year-old woman, were taken to hospital for treatment.
STV News understands the man and woman were passengers at the time of the crash.
A 22-year-old man left the scene but was later traced and has now been charged in connection with road traffic offences, according to police.
He is due to appear in court in the coming days.
A police spokesperson said: “Around 9.10am on Saturday, September 19, we were called to a report of a hit and run crash on Lawn Street in Paisley.
“Emergency services attended and a 74-year-old man and a 47-year-old woman were taken to hospital for treatment.
“The 22-year-old male driver of the car which left the scene was traced by police a short time later and he was arrested in connection.
“The man has since been charged with a number of road traffic offences and is due to appear at Paisley Sheriff Court on Monday, September 21.”
