Over 50 drivers have been given warnings over “irresponsible parking” in an area of Glasgow’s southside.
Police officers and Glasgow City Council parking enforcement officers were in Govanhill after complaints were raised by the local community about issues with parking.
During the action, 51 warning notices were issued for double parking and seven drivers were given fixed penalty notices for offences.
The warnings come just weeks before enforcement on pavement parking is set to begin in the city.
The council said they had plans to introduce measures available to them under the Transport (Scotland) Act 2019.
Local authorities now have the power to introduce new parking prohibitions with initial enforcement in Glasgow to focus on dropped kerbs and double parking.
Wider enforcement is expected to begin as early as March with pavement parking being dealt with on an ad-hoc basis.
A spokesperson for Police Scotland said: “Officers from Gorbals and GCC Parking Enforcement were in Govanhill in response to community complaints regarding irresponsible parking.
“In total 51 warning notices were issued for double parking and 7 x drivers were issued with fixed penalty notices for offences.”
