Dog owners warned as biscuits laced with pins found Scottish SPCA

Dog biscuits have been found laced with pins in a Glasgow street.

The discovery was made on June 24, marking the seventh report of biscuits with “harmful materials” inside in Anderston in just over two years.

The Scottish SPCA has launched an investigation after revealing it has been alerted to numerous incidents near Dorset Square, just off Dorset Street, since March 2018.

Nails and needles have previously been found within biscuits.

Scottish SPCA inspector Kerry Friel said: “This is the seventh report we have received of dog biscuits with harmful materials in. Previously biscuits have been found embedded with nails and needles.

“We would ask everyone in the area to be alert, especially those who walk their dogs in the area. To keep pets safe, we would urge people to keep their dogs on a lead.

“Someone knows something and we are desperate to put a stop to this. Whoever is behind this seems intent on injuring, or killing, an animal. “

If anyone has any information or sees anything suspicious, contact police on 101 or the Scottish SPCA’s animal helpline on 03000 999 999.
