Dog hit by car after driver ran red light at pedestrian crossing

The driver failed to stop after striking a dog while driving through a red light.

Police are searching for a driver who ran a red light and struck a dog in South Lanarkshire.

The dog was crossing the road on Strathaven Road, Stonehouse around 2.35pm on Friday, May 3 when a silver Citreon DS3 Crossback drove through the light.

The driver failed to stop at the scene and the dog was uninjured.

Police are now appealing for anyone who was in the area at the time and saw the vehicle to come forward.

Motorists with dashcam footage are also being asked to get in touch.
