A jailed doctor who sexually assaulted dozens of female patients has been handed a further prison sentence for sex abuse crimes.
Krishna Singh was previously convicted of sexually assaulting almost 50 female patients in 2022.
The 76-year-old abused his position to prey on his victims over 35 years, and his targets included a rape victim, teenagers and pregnant women.
The offences mainly occurred at medical practices in North Lanarkshire, but also at a hospital A&E department, a police station, as well as during visits to patients’ homes.
Victims were subjected to kissing, groping, inappropriate examinations and comments during appointments.
Prosecutors described how the predator was “hiding in plain sight” over the four decades.
He was jailed in 2022 for 12 years for the sex abuse crimes.
Further jail term
Following his conviction, police confirmed more women had come forward with allegations of abuse against the former GP.
On Friday, Singh was handed a further five years in prison at Dumfries Sheriff Court after being found guilty of numerous other sexual offences between 1984 and 2017 while working as a doctor in North Lanarkshire.
The term will run concurrently with the 12-year sentence he is currently serving.
Detective chief inspector Stevie Smith, of the National Rape and Sexual Crime Division, said: “Krishna Singh is now facing the consequences of his appalling and predatory behaviour.
“Singh was a doctor, and in a position of trust, and someone that these women should have been safe with but he violated that trust.
“The victims have shown great strength in coming forward with vital information, making sure he was held accountable for his actions, and ultimately convicted.
“I hope this conviction provides a sense of closure for them and sends a clear message that all reports of sexual abuse, regardless of the passage of time, will be thoroughly investigated by Police Scotland and victims will be supported throughout.”
Should you wish to report a sexual crime to Police Scotland, then please do so by contacting officers on 101, or by making an anonymous report to the charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
