DJ Mallorca Lee has died aged 51 just weeks after revealing his terminal cancer diagnosis.
The Ultra Sonic star’s family broke the news on his official Facebook page on Monday, writing: “We love you infinity, goodbye and safe trip.”
The popular DJ and producer had said he had months to live as he shared his diagnosis on social media in January.
A post on his Facebook page read: “I apologise for not telling all of my family and friends individually, it just breaks my heart a thousand times and I don’t have the strength to go through it all over and over again.
“I love you all, the last ten years have been the best of them all, it really has been wonderful.
“Love, that’s all we ever really have, our one true currency, so tell the ones around you what they mean to you, every day.”
More than 2,000 well-wishers have shared and commented on the announcement, posting tributes to Lee and messages of support for his family.
Paul Rayner called it “a deeply sad day for the Scottish dance music scene.”
Max Di Toro wrote: “Mallorca, we only spent a short time together and played one gig but your infectious personality was the reason why we kept in touch. So glad we got to catch up in Sydney. I’ll play your tunes loud and proud forever! Goodbye my friend.”
Melissa Burns added: “Thank you for inspiring so many with your zest and passion for not only life but for music too.
“This loss is incomprehensible and I wish you a safe journey to your place in the sky.”
Derek McNee commented: “Absolutely devastating to lose this beautiful soul, a gentleman and had plenty time for everyone.”
Mallorca Lee formed popular dance act Ultra Sonic in the 1990s, known for their hits Obsession, Love Me Right and Angels before joining Public Domain in 2000.
He left the band to focus on his solo career as a DJ and producer in 2003 and had performed across the world.
