A “distinguished” pilot has died following a kitesurfing accident on the Isle of Tiree.
Emergency services were called to Crossapol Beach following reports of a medical emergency at around 12pm on October 30.
Jonathan Peskett was pronounced dead at the scene. The 54-year-old’s death is being treated as unexplained but is not believed to be suspicious.
A fundraiser has been launched to ensure that Jonathan can board his final flight back home to Cornwall, organised by Skybus.
Loved ones are also planning a fire service guard of honour upon his departure.
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Around 12pm on Thursday, October 30, 2025, we were made aware of a medical emergency on Crossapol Beach, Isle of Tiree.
“A 54-year-old man was pronounced dead at the scene. His death is being treated as unexplained however there do not appear to be any suspicious circumstances. A report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal.”
