Hundreds of litres of diesel, tools, and copper cable worth an estimated £50,000 have been stolen from a landfill site in North Lanarkshire.

Police are investigating the “significant theft” that took place at the Greengairs site between 2pm on Sunday and 7am on Monday.

Approximately 800 litres of diesel, 300 metres of copper cable, and various tools, were stolen during the incident.

Anyone who saw or heard anything unusual is being asked to contact police.

Detective constable Craig Hartley said: “Our enquiries into this significant theft are ongoing and we are appealing to anyone who may have seen or heard anything unusual at the time to come forward.

“If you saw anything unusual or suspicious in the area, including any suspicious vehicles, please contact police immediately.

“Additionally, we encourage anyone with dash-cam footage or other relevant information to reach out, as it could be crucial to our investigation.”
