Detectives have launched an attempted murder investigation after a man was attacked in a house in North Lanarkshire.

The 62-year-old victim was assaulted within a property in Gainside Road, Glenboig, shortly before 5pm on Friday.

Emergency services attended and the man was taken to University Hospital Monklands in Airdrie, where medics have described his condition as stable.

Police said enquiries into the murder bid continue.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Around 4.50pm on Friday, March 5, police were called to a property in Gainside Road, Glenboig, after a 62-year-old man was assaulted within.

“Emergency services attended and the victim was taken to Monklands Hospital, where medical staff describe his condition as stable.

“The incident is being treated as attempted murder and enquiries are continuing.”
