An appeal for information has been launched by detectives following a serious assault on a 34-year-old man in Bellshill.

The incident happened on Tuesday, 6 January at around 11:15pm on Reema Road, where the victim was assaulted by another man. The suspect is believed to have left the scene heading towards Bairdsland View.

The man was treated for serious injuries at University Hospital Wishaw.

The suspect was wearing a North Face cap, light grey and black trainers and a Mintriex brand tracksuit. He has a Scottish accent and is described as in his 20s, approximately 5ft 9ins tall, white, slim, with dark hair in a crew cut style and clean shaven.

Detective Constable Adele Johnston said: “This incident left a man with serious injuries and our enquiries are ongoing to trace the man responsible.

“I would urge anyone who witnessed the assault, or who saw a man matching this description in the area around the time, to contact police.
