Delivery driver found injured on road as robbers steal van

A delivery driver was found seriously injured after having his van stolen in an early morning attack.

A delivery driver was found seriously injured in the middle of the road after his van was stolen in an early morning robbery.

The man was taken to hospital following the incident that took place in the West Main Street area of Harthill on Saturday morning.

He was found unconscious at around 5.30am before emergency services attended and he was taken to Wishaw General Hospital.

Medical staff describe his condition as serious but stable.

His blue Iveko van was then used in an attempted house breaking in Ochilview Square, Armadale a short while later at 6.10am before being found abandoned on Forrester Road.

Officers investigating the incident are now keen to speak to anyone who may have seen the theft of the van, the attempted housebreaking being driven between the two locations and afterwards.

Detective Sergeant Derrick Lunan, of Wishaw CID, said: “The van driver was seriously injured during the theft and we would like to speak to anyone who saw what happened as well as any suspicious activity beforehand.

“We are also keen to speak to anyone who saw this van being driven around at that time in the morning and after the incident at the store before it was then abandoned.”
