Drivers have been warned to expect heavy traffic as part of the M74 remains closed to allow roadwork materials to cool.

Traffic Scotland confirmed a lane closure at 7.12am on Tuesday to allow for cooling materials following overnight roadworks between junction 6 and 5.

The closure remains in place as of 11.14am, with drivers warned of 30-minute delays.

Traffic has been described as heavy on approach back from junction 8.

No further information has been given on when the lane will be reopened.
