A man has died in hospital after being found injured on a street in South Ayrshire.

The 47-year-old was found on Walker Road in Ayr at around 12.40pm on Sunday afternoon.

He was taken by ambulance to Ayr Hospital, where he died a short time later.

Detective sergeant Craig Semple said: “Our enquiries are ongoing to establish the exact circumstances surrounding this death.  A post mortem examination will be held in due course, however meantime the death is being treated as unexplained.

“A number of people went to assist the injured man on Walker Road, Ayr and I would ask anyone who assisted who has not yet spoken to police to please contact officers.

“Anyone with information that may assist our ongoing enquiries is asked to contact 101 quoting reference number 2161 of October 25.”
