There are no “suspicious circumstances” surrounding the discovery of a man’s burned body in North Lanarkshire.

The human remains were found in the Margaret Drive area of Motherwell at around 9am on Saturday, February 24, with police treating the man’s death as “unexplained”.

The area near a football pitch was sealed off and a white tent was erected at the scene as forensic staff carried out investigations.

Police believe there are no suspicious circumstances surrounding the man’s death and said that next of kin had been informed.

A report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal.

A Police Scotland statement read: “There are not believed to be any suspicious circumstances and a report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal in due course.

“Officers would like to thank the local community for their patience and understanding as enquiries were carried out in the area.”
