The death of a lorry driver who was fatally injured at the Riverside Museum is to be investigated.
John Dougall, who was working as a lorry load driver, became trapped between a stabiliser leg and the control panel on the side of his vehicle during an incident at the Glasgow attraction in June 2022.
The 54-year-old died in hospital three days later.
A Fatal Accident Inquiry is to be held into the death as it occurred during the course of Mr Dougall’s employment.
The inquiry will look at the circumstances of the death and what, if any, reasonable precautions could have been taken, and could be implemented in the future.
Unlike criminal proceedings, FAIs are inquisitorial in nature and are used to establish facts rather than to apportion blame.
Debbie Carroll of the Crown Office and Procurator Fiscal Service, Scotland’s death investigation authority, said: “The death of John Dougall occurred while in the course of his employment and as such a Fatal Accident Inquiry is mandatory.
“The lodging of the First Notice enables FAI proceedings to commence under the direction of the Sheriff.
“Mr Dougall’s family will continue to be kept informed of significant developments as court proceedings progress.”
