North Lanarkshire Council has received a proposal of application notice concerning a possible data centre to be built near Newhouse.

A proposal of application notice is a preliminary step in preparation for a major planning application, highlighting an intent to carry out a public consultation exercise before the formal application is submitted.

This one concerns the possible development by HFD Renewables NL on land at South Langridge Farm of a data centre as well as other buildings, a substation and battery energy storage system which may come under a separate application.

In addition to the council, the notice has also been submitted to local MPs and MSPs as well as community councils, and it highlights an intention to host community consultation events in April and June.
