A “dangerous” man is being hunted by police after a woman was murdered on a street in Glasgow.

Grant McKinnon was last seen on Cardowan Road on Saturday morning at the same time as emergency services were called to help an injured woman.

At around 4am, Elizabeth Colligan, 82, was pronounced dead, and police launched a murder investigation.

McKinnon is described as 6ft tall, with a shaved head, last seen wearing a black jacket with a red hood and blue jeans.

Members of the public have been urged not to approach the 30-year-old and to call police immediately if he is spotted.

Detective superintendent Gary Ferguson said: “Grant is considered to be dangerous and I’m appealing for information from the public to help us trace him as soon as possible.

“If anyone sees Grant, they should not approach him but contact police immediately.”

Detective inspector Gordon Walker said: “Our thoughts remain with Elizabeth’s family and friends during this very difficult time. We are continuing to offer them our support as the investigation progresses.

“Officers are following a positive line of enquiry and work is ongoing to establish the full circumstances of what has happened. This includes door to door enquiries in the local area, as well as a detailed review of all available CCTV footage.

“We are especially keen to speak with anyone who saw or heard anything around 4am on Saturday, April 18, 2026.”

Chief inspector Jon Watters said: “We understand that this will be concerning for the local community, and we want to reassure the public that extensive enquiries are underway. There will continue to be an increased police presence in the area over the coming days, and anyone with information or concerns is encouraged to speak with officers.”

Anyone with any information is urged to contact Police Scotland on 101 quoting incident 0523 of April 18, 2026. Crimestoppers can also be contacted anonymously on 0800 555 111.
