A cyclist has been taken to hospital with serious injuries following a crash in South Lanarkshire. 

The incident occurred around 5.10pm on Wednesday on Uddingston Road, Uddingston and involved a grey Peugeot 208 car. 

The 43-year-old male cyclist was taken to Queen Elizabeth University Hospital in Glasgow for treatment. 

The occupants of the car were not injured following the crash. 

The road was closed for around three hours to allow for an investigation at the scene and enquiries remain ongoing.

Sergeant Nick Twigg of the Lanarkshire Road Policing Unit said: “We are working to establish the full circumstances which led to this crash and would urge anyone who may be able to help to come forward.

“We would also be keen to speak to anyone who may have dashcam footage from the area.

“Anyone who can help is asked to call 101, quoting reference 2668 of November 3.”
