Cyclist spotted on M8 as police issue warning

Police have issued a warning after a cyclist was spotted riding along the M8 in Glasgow.

Road Policing officers from Glasgow spotted the cyclist on the motorway on Tuesday and shared a picture on social media.

It shows the rider in the left lane next to traffic cones, with cars nearby. The cyclist also appears not to be wearing a helmet.

Officers said in a statement: “For the avoidance of doubt, cyclists and pedestrians for their own safety are not allowed on the motorway.

“Cyclists and pedestrians are vulnerable road users, and misuse of the motorway presents a significant risk to all.”
