A man was pushed off his bike, seriously assaulted and robbed in Glasgow city centre on Christmas Eve.

The cyclist was on the corner of Midland Street and Jamaica Street on Friday afternoon when he was attacked, being hit on the head with a glass bottle.

Emergency services were called to the scene after the incident at around 2.30pm.

Midland Street was closed while police carried out investigations before it reopened around 45 minutes later.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “We received a report of a robbery at the corner of Midland Street and Jamaica Street, Glasgow, around 2.30pm on Friday, December 24.

“A man was reportedly pushed off his bike and seriously assaulted on the head with a glass bottle.

“Midland Street was closed to allow initial enquiries to be complete. It has since reopened and enquiries remain ongoing.”
