Police are attempting to trace a vehicle following a hit and run incident involving a cyclist in Ayrshire.

At around 6.35pm on Saturday evening, a red Ford Fiesta and cyclist collided on the B752 Dubbs Road in Stevenston and the car did not stop at the scene.

The 52-year-old male cyclist sustained minor injuries and was taken to University Hospital Crosshouse in Kilmarnock as a precaution.

Road policing officers are now carrying out enquiries to trace the vehicle and have urged any witnesses or anyone with information to come forward.

Sergeant Gordon Stewart, of Ayrshire Road Policing Unit, said: “We are asking for anyone who was in the area around the time of the crash, or anyone with information on the vehicle involved, to please get in touch.

“I would also urge anyone with dashcam footage that could assist our investigation to contact police.

“Anyone with information is asked to call Police Scotland on 101, quoting incident 2985 of August 27.”
