A cyclist is in a serious condition in hospital and a car driver has been charged after a crash in Glasgow city centre.

Police were called to the Gallowgate in Glasgow following the collision involving a car and a man on a bike at around 7.15pm on Monday.

Gallowgate was closed to all traffic between Moir Street and Kent Street due to an earlier accident.

The cyclist, a 23-year-old man, was taken to Queen Elizabeth University Hospital with serious, but not life-threatening injuries.

The car driver, a 21-year-old man, was arrested and charged in connection with road traffic offences.

Police said the road was cleared around 10.20pm.

A Police Scotland statement read: “Road Policing officers attended the Gallowgate in Glasgow following a collision involving a car and a cyclist which happened around 7.15pm on Monday, May 5, 2025.

“The cyclist, a 23-year-old man, was taken to Queen Elizabeth University Hospital with serious, but not life-threatening injuries.

“The car driver, a 21-year-old man, was arrested and charged in connection with road traffic offences.

“A report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal in due course.

“The road was cleared around 10.20pm.”
