Cyclist in hospital after 'hit and run' closes Duke Street

The man riding the bike was taken to Queen Elizabeth University Hospital while occupants of the car left the scene on foot.

A cyclist is in hospital after being hit by a car on a major road in Glasgow.

Duke Street, east of the city centre, has been shut to all traffic after the collision shortly before 10am on Monday.

Police said the man riding the bike was taken to Queen Elizabeth University Hospital.

The occupants of the car have left the scene on foot, officers said.

Emergency services remain on the scene between Millerston Street and Bellgrove Street.

​A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Around 9.50am on Monday, September 4, 2023, police were called to the Duke Street area of Glasgow, following a report of a crash involving a car and a cyclist.

“The male cyclist has been taken to Queen Elizabeth University Hospital for treatment.

“The occupants of the car left the scene on foot and emergency services remain in the area. Enquiries into the full circumstances are ongoing.”
