A Glasgow cycling charity is closing its Finnieston site after 14 years, as the land is prepared for redevelopment.
Bike for Good first opened its West Hub on Haugh Road back in October 2012, followed by the South Hub in Govanhill in 2017.
The charity has grown from a small stall in the Barras Market to rescuing and repairing unwanted bikes, as well as providing lessons in safe cycling and maintenance.
However, it has now been announced that the West Hub is set to close in the coming weeks.
According to charity bosses, the landlord has decided to end the lease with plans to redevelop the site.
Since opening, the charity says it has helped thousands of people learn to cycle and gain confidence on the road as miles of cycling routes have been built through the Connecting Glasgow programme.
Bike for GoodBike for Good says that more and more people are needing their services as active travel increases across the city.
In 2025/26, the team serviced and refurbished more than 2,700 bikes, helped 1,845 people access bicycles and delivered 1,064 cycling lessons and training sessions.
The charity is now planning a farewell party in November ahead of the hub’s closure on December 1.
While the West Hub might be closing, Bike for Good says it will be looking into maintaining a presence in the area, but until then all operations will be relocated to the South Hub.
Alberta Gutteridge, chief executive of Bike for Good, said: “So many people I have met since I joined the organisation in 2024 have a story to tell about the West Hub, whether buying a bike or their child’s first bike (and second) or donating a bike. or learning to cycle from scratch as an adult.
“It is going to be sad to leave it, even while looking forward to new stories when we consolidate operations in the South.”
