Residents in Cumbernauld have been urged to stay indoors following an early morning dog attack.

Emergency services were called to Burns Road in the Kildrum area at around 6.25am on Wednesday after a person was attacked by the animal.

Police are still on the scene with locals told to stay inside as a precaution. The seriousness of the injuries suffered by the individual is not known.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Around 6.25am on Wednesday, February 11, 2026, we received a report of a person having been attacked by a dog on Burns Road, Kildrum, Cumbernauld.

“Emergency services are in attendance and residents are being asked to remain indoors as a precaution.”
