Crew rescued after fishing boat sinks in North Sea

An HM Coastguard fixed-wing aircraft was sent as well as a search and rescue helicopter from Norway.

A crew of six was safely rescued after a fishing vessel sank in the North Sea about 165 nautical miles east of Edinburgh.

The alarm was raised at about 5.30am on October 29 via an Emergency Position-Indicating Radio Beacon registered to the Odyssey FR70.

An HM Coastguard fixed-wing aircraft was sent as well as a search and rescue helicopter from Norway.

A broadcast was issued for nearby vessels to support the search.

The crew was recovered safe and well from a life raft by a fishing vessel which responded to the call for help.

No one was reported missing and the crew will be brought to shore by another vessel.
