An outbreak of coronavirus has been identified at a Morrisons supermarket distribution centre in North Lanarkshire.
An unconfirmed number of workers at XPO Logistics in Bellshill are self-isolating after testing positive for Covid-19.
NHS Lanarkshire says a mobile testing unit has been brought in and contact tracing is being carried out.
Dr Femi Oshin, NHS Lanarkshire consultant in public health medicine, said: “NHS Lanarkshire’s Test and Protect team has carried out contact tracing after individuals at XPO Logistics in Bellshill tested positive for Covid-19.
“They are currently self-isolating at home.
“NHS Lanarkshire is working closely with North Lanarkshire Council and the company with regards to the cases and has now contacted all appropriate close contacts.
“These individuals are being told to self-isolate.
“A mobile testing unit has been brought in to support other additional measures put in place to help reduce the spread and transmission of Covid-19.”
A spokesperson for XPO said the firm was working with local authorities and adhering to all local and Public Health Scotland guidance to “ensure the appropriate health and safety measures are in place.
The spokesperson said: “Protecting our employees is our number one priority.
“We can confirm that we don’t give a running order of any positively tested colleagues on background only.
“Still, we will continue to follow all national and local guidance and work with the local North Lanarkshire health board, who have expressed confidence in our safety protocols.”
