A man has been convicted of sexually abusing two young boys.

David Exley, 43, preyed on the six and nine-year-olds at his home in Kirkintilloch, East Dunbartonshire, between July 2022 and January 2023.

Construction worker Exley denied the allegations and claimed the six-year-old victim “rehearsed” his evidence to police officers.

However, the first offender, Exley, was found guilty by Sheriff David Taylor of two charges of sexual assault.

The sheriff said: “The similarities in time and place and the circumstances of the sexual assaults were such that each of the boys’ evidence corroborated each other.

“Understand this, that all sentencing options are available to me.

“This is a matter of the most serious nature.”

One of the boys told the police officers in an interview that he recalled a “bald man leaving” his bedroom.

The boy also stated that he heard Exley laughing.

Both boys stated that they were touched by Exley.

One boy claimed that this happened to him in a bathroom.

Exley was put on the sex offenders register and granted bail pending sentencing next month.
