Concerns are growing after the “out of character” disappearance of a man from North Lanarkshire.

Nico McCann was last seen in Whiterigg Place around 11.15pm on Friday.

Police said the 20-year-old is known to frequent the Airdrie and Coatbridge areas but may have travelled to Glasgow.

He is described as 5ft4, of medium build, with curly short dark hair and blue/green eyes.

The force said that it is not known what the man was last seen wearing.

Police are urging anyone with information regarding Mr McCann’s disappearance to come forward.

Sergeant Chris Norton from Airdrie Police Station said: “It is completely out of character for Nico to go missing like this and we are all concerned for his welfare.

“He is known to frequent the Airdrie and Coatbridge areas, and may have also travelled into Glasgow, and we are asking members of the public to keep an eye out for him and report any potential sightings to us.

“We are also appealing to Nico directly to please get in touch with someone to confirm he is safe and well.

“Anyone with information is asked to contact us on 101, quoting incident number 4356 of Friday, July 12, 2024.”
