Concerns for welfare of missing man 'grow' as search launched

Police Scotland has launched a search for a missing South Lanarkshire man as concerns for his welfare grow.

Ian Ward was last seen around 8am on Monday in the Barrs Lane area of Carluke and has connections to Wishaw.

The 61-year-old is described as around 5ft 8ins, of medium to heavy build, with balding grey hair.

He was wearing a red hoodie, a green body warmer, black-and-green tracksuit bottoms, and black trainers.

Inspector Kat Thomson said: “Concerns are growing for Ian’s welfare and we need to make sure he is safe and well.

“We are asking anyone who has seen him or knows where he might be to get in touch.”

Those with information are urged to call Police Scotland on 101, quoting reference number 0662 of Monday, August 3, 2026.
