Two men have been arrested and charged after police uncovered drugs during a traffic stop in Glasgow.

Officers acting on intelligence stopped two cars travelling along Gartocher Terrace in the Shettleston area of the city around 7.45pm on Thursday.

During a search of the two vehicles, cocaine with an estimated street value of £150,000 was seized by officers.

Two men, aged 42 and 54, were arrested and charged in connection with drugs offences.

Both are due to appear before Glasgow Sheriff Court on Friday.

Detective Chief Inspector Laura Sands said: “This significant recovery highlights our determination to protect the public by disrupting the trade of illegal drugs and preventing them causing harm in our communities.

“It also underlines our commitment to the Serious Organised Crime Taskforce and the country’s Serious Organised Crime Strategy.

“Information from the public is vital to help us continue this work and I’d ask anyone with concerns or information about drug crime in their area to report this to us.

“You can contact police directly on 101, or call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111, if you wish to remain anonymous.”
