The Clyde Tunnel was closed in both directions due to a police incident on Saturday.

Glasgow City Council confirmed the tunnel was closed at around 3.25pm following an incident.

In an update issued at around 6pm, it was confirmed that the Northbound and Southbound bores of the Clyde Tunnel are now fully open to all traffic.

Motorists were urged to avoid the area during the incident.

A traffic bulletin read: “Due to an ongoing Police Incident, the Clyde Tunnel is currently closed in both directions.

“Emergency services are in attendance.

“Drivers are advised to seek an alternative route.”

Police Scotland said: “The Clyde Tunnel is closed northbound due to an ongoing incident that was reported around 2.45pm on Saturday, 26 July, 2025.

“The southbound carriageway has now re-opened however the area is very congested and motorists should avoid the area is possible.”
