'Cinderella drunk driver' charged after 'fleeing crash scene in one shoe'

A driver who allegedly ran away from a crash wearing only one shoe spent Hogmanay in jail, police have said.

Officers were called to the incident on the M8 motorway in Shieldhall on New Years Eve. Nobody was injured as a result of the crash.

Road Policing Scotland alleged the driver was drunk, and attempted to flee the scene wearing only one trainer.

He was eventually traced using the trainer that was left behind, arrested and charged by Glasgow road police.

He was released from custody pending a court appearance.

On X, Road Policing Scotland said: “It wasn’t a ‘Glass Slipper’, but the trainer certainly fit the drunk driver of this car who ran away from an RTC on the M8 wearing only one!

“GlasgowRP decided he wouldn’t be at the ball to see in the bells and spent it in cells instead!”
