A child has been taken to hospital after being hit by a car in Glasgow.

Emergency services were called to Balmore Road, close to Balmore Square in Possilpark, at around 11.55am on Thursday following reports of a crash.

An ambulance took the child to the Royal Children’s Hospital; their condition is unknown. The driver of the car was not injured during the collision.

Officers have closed the road between Bilsland Drive and Broadholm Street to allow for detectives to carry out enquiries.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Around 11.55am on Thursday, April 2, 2026, police were called to Balmore Road near to Balmore Square, Possilpark following a report of a collision involving a child and a car.

“The child has been taken by ambulance to the Royal Children’s Hospital in Glasgow for treatment.

“The driver of the car has not been injured.

“Balmore Road is closed between Bilsland Drive and Broadholm Street.

“Police remain at the scene and enquiries are continuing.”
