A child has been injured after a firework was thrown at a woman and her children in Glasgow.

The family were on Linkwood Place, close to Drumchapel Park, around 6.35pm on Saturday when a firework was thrown in their direction.

One of the children who was in a pram sustained minor injuries as a result.

Officers are searching for those responsible for the “completely reckless act” and have urged any witnesses to come forward.

Detective constable Ashley Convery said: “This was a completely reckless act that left the woman and her children understandably shaken.

“The child sustained minor injuries as a result of this incident, but it could’ve ended much worse.

“I am appealing to anyone who witnessed people in the area that evening in possession of fireworks to please come forward with information.

“I would also ask those with private CCTV or dash-cam footage to review this to see if it has captured anything that could assist with our investigation.

“This type of behaviour will not be tolerated, and additional officers will be out across the community ahead of Bonfire Night. Anyone who engages in this type of reckless behaviour will be identified and brought to justice.”

Anyone with information is asked to contact Police Scotland on 101, quoting incident number 2804 of October 31. Alternatively, information can be passed anonymously to Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
