A chicken has been found abandoned in a “taped up” box in an industrial estate in North Lanarkshire.
The Scottish SPCA said that a member of the public found the box at Queenzieburn Industrial Estate, Kilsyth around 2.30pm on March 12.
The “very friendly” chicken was said to have been found abandoned in a “taped up” cardboard box.
Scottish SPCA animal rescue officer, Eilidh Hoehle, said that the chicken was in good condition and appeared to have been looked after.
Ms Hoehle confirmed that the chicken is now being cared for at one of the SSPCA animal rescue and rehoming centres.
“We appreciate that whoever left this chicken may have intended for her to be found but this is not the correct way to give up a pet if you can no longer care for them.
“If anyone recognises this chicken or has any information surrounding her circumstances, they should call our confidential animal helpline on 03000 999 999,” they said.
