A Glasgow carer, who was convicted of slapping a man with dementia and was alleged to have made sexualised remarks, has been given a warning.

Olatunji Olatunde was employed at Cumbrae Lodge Nursing Home when he slapped a vulnerable man across the face on July 12, 2022.

During that same shift, he was alleged to have made sexualised comments towards a female member of staff. The carer said that if he were her man, the woman would not be allowed out and she would be unable to walk.

Olatunji was found guilty of this assault at Kilmarnock Sheriff Court on February 12, 2024.

The Scottish Social Services Council deemed that the sexual remarks allegation was not proven.

A warning was placed on his registration for two years due to the mitigating factors surrounding the incident.

It was found that the service user racially abused and spat at Olatunji.

The report read: “Given the serious nature of the conviction, a finding of impairment would be necessary to meet the expectations of reasonable members of the public who were aware of its terms.

“The Panel considered a finding of impairment to be necessary to promote and maintain standards by ensuring appropriate action was taken.”
