A carer has been removed from the register over claims she lied about visiting vulnerable service users.
Amelia Boal was said to have remotely checked in and out of visits outside people’s homes to make it appear that she was providing care.
The support worker for Baillieston Community Care was supposed to be providing personal care, domestic support and befriending support to a person with Alzheimer’s but was found to have failed to attend their home as scheduled.
Boal was also found to have lied about the length of time she was spending on her visits.
The Scottish Social Services Council (SSSC) believe Boal’s actions impacted ten service users.
She reportedly failed to attend the care appointments scheduled for one woman with Alzheimer’s over a four-month period.
A report by the SSSC concluded that she had put the vulnerable individual at “risk of harm by not receiving the care and support they were entitled to receive,” including help preparing meals, medication prompts, catheter care, and checks on their well-being.
Boal admitted not attending a visit on one occasion and expressed “deep regret” over her actions but was found to have not shown insight or remorse over other alleged incidents.
A report by the SSSC concluded: “Your behaviour was deliberate, repeated and in the context of lone working adds to the risk of repetition.
“By your actions, you misled your employer over a significant period of time as they had no reason not to trust that you were performing your role or the accuracy of your records on the Access People Planner App.
“Such dishonest behaviour raises concerns about your underlying values and suitability to work in registrable employment.”
