A children’s care service in Glasgow has been issued with an improvement notice after inspectors identified “significant concerns”.

The Care Inspectorate said concerns had been identified at Antonine All Stars, in Drumchapel, following an inspection.

Inspectors found failings in safeguarding, staffing, child protection procedures, accident reporting, and governance.

Under the notice, Antonine All Stars must ensure there are enough suitably skilled and trained staff to meet the needs of children in attendance, while providing continuous supervision.

It must also introduce safeguarding systems, including measures to ensure that children can’t access equipment or areas that could cause them harm.

Clear child protection procedures, including recording and reporting accidents and incidents, should also be put in place.

The Care Inspectorate has warned that unless there is a “significant improvement” in the service, its registration will be cancelled.

A spokesperson for the Care Inspectorate said: “An inspection has identified significant concerns about the quality of care experienced by children and young people at Antonine all stars, a care service in Glasgow.

“We understand this is a difficult and distressing time for children and young people who use this service, their families and carers and staff.

“However, our first priority is always the health and well-being of people.

“Because of our concerns, we have issued an Improvement Notice and an Emergency Condition Notice.

“This sets out the significant improvements that must be made within a specified timeframe, and limits the number of young people who can be cared for at any one time.

“We are in contact with and monitoring the service to follow up on the required improvements.”
