A group of youths have been branded “reckless” by police after throwing items from a motorway bridge onto oncoming traffic.
A car windscreen was smashed after the group threw items from a bridge above the M74 at junction 9 around 5pm on Sunday.
No injuries were reported following the incident.
Police are now investigating and said there have been a number of similar incidents over the past week.
Sergeant Stewart McDonald said: “Thankfully, no one has been injured, but this behaviour is completely reckless and could result in serious injury.
“I would ask anyone who was driving in the area on the evening of Sunday, April 12, or who has observed this type of behaviour recently, to please come forward and speak to officers.
“I’d also ask those with dash-cam footage to please review this to see if it has captured anything that could assist with our investigation.”
Anyone with information is asked to contact Police Scotland on 101, quoting incident number 2307 of April 12, 2026. Alternatively, information can be passed anonymously to Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
